Awesome book for children who want to tap into their imagination。 About second grade level for readers。 This book is full of objects that children will be able to identify。 The text and illustration with the sharks might be a little scary for the young ones so beware for that。 Overall beautifully illustrated and well written。

#14 of 2021Lovely illustrations! The story was cute, but it needed something。 Maybe less rhyming? I can't describe it, maybe just not my style。 #14 of 2021Lovely illustrations! The story was cute, but it needed something。 Maybe less rhyming? I can't describe it, maybe just not my style。 。。。more

I liked the mermaid。 They did not catch the mermaid。

This was not as good as “How to Catch a Unicorn” but my daughter liked it。 I think she is definitely more of a fan of unicorns than mermaids and I felt like the words in this book did not have as good sentence fluency。

Very cute and entertaining。

My daycare kids love this book it is a fun book to read and does get children to follow the story 。

This picturebook was beautiful in terms of its primarily pastel color palette with a mix of realistic illustrations for the scenery, ocean, and landscapes, and cartoonish illustrations for the children and mermaid。 The story was a little cookie cutter though in terms of the plot line and rhyming schemes。 This picturebook would also be great for a thematic storytime on the ocean or as a read aloud for parents and their children。

I thought this book was very basic。 I did a project on this book this year and it was hard to write a lot about it。 The images were pretty boring and I think it could've been a lot better。 Super cute story with much more potential。 I thought this book was very basic。 I did a project on this book this year and it was hard to write a lot about it。 The images were pretty boring and I think it could've been a lot better。 Super cute story with much more potential。 。。。more

I thought this book was overall really cute。 The first thing that I liked about this book is that is had a lot of rhyming words。 I personally think that books that rhyme are really cool because for me I think they are easier to listen to。 They kind of remind me of a song and they just have a certain rhythm to them。 I also think that this is a great book to tie into a lesson about character traits because there are times in the book where they use certain words to describe the mermaid so I think I thought this book was overall really cute。 The first thing that I liked about this book is that is had a lot of rhyming words。 I personally think that books that rhyme are really cool because for me I think they are easier to listen to。 They kind of remind me of a song and they just have a certain rhythm to them。 I also think that this is a great book to tie into a lesson about character traits because there are times in the book where they use certain words to describe the mermaid so I think this would be a good book to do that。 。。。more

This is a very cute book about two kids who want to catch a mermaid so that she will be their friend。 The pictures and the text work very well together to tell the story of how this clever mermaid evades their traps。

Cute, But Weak Rhyming This book is adorable。 The art is gorgeous and worthy of being a children's television show - one with real art, and not some of the hideous things from recent years。 The story itself is also rather cute, though it has a few mixed signals and doesn't quite touch on what should have been the moral。My main issue is that I found the rhyme scheme rather forced on several pages and thought it didn't quite fit properly。 I don't think most children would notice, but parents may s Cute, But Weak Rhyming This book is adorable。 The art is gorgeous and worthy of being a children's television show - one with real art, and not some of the hideous things from recent years。 The story itself is also rather cute, though it has a few mixed signals and doesn't quite touch on what should have been the moral。My main issue is that I found the rhyme scheme rather forced on several pages and thought it didn't quite fit properly。 I don't think most children would notice, but parents may stumble a couple times trying to make it work while reading aloud。 。。。more

Good bookMy daughter is 5 years old and she likes mermaid a lot。 This book is perfect for her to read

Simply gorgeous colors and eye catching illustrations。 Great book for toddlers teaching about how to use imagination to solve problems。 Interesting that some of the book rhymed and then other parts just didn’t! May want to consider mixing up who’s thinking up ideas, or whose taking notes or doing research from a book, whose playing jazzy music to avoid stereotypes。 Maybe use the dog for something? But kids will love this。

I love this bookMy kids love this book I have actually found something to get them to sleepI highly suggest this book

I am always excited to see what book Adam Wallace comes up with next。 His "How to Catch。。。" series is so much fun。 With topics that appeal to kids, and characters that coincide with holidays, his creativity always shines through。 We will continue to add to our collection in the library everytime he releases another book from the series。 Kids love them。Will our character be able to catch the mermaid that she saw? What if she tries to lure her with a treasure chest? A sparkly necklace? A crown? Read to find out if the mermaid falls for the trap!Kids love this series。 They are short and fun。 Told in rhyme, Adam Wallace always finds a way to be creative with his characters and their antics。 In the classroom, this would be a good book for a STEM lesson。 What kind of trap would you try to create to catch a mermaid? It would definitely need to be a different kind of trap than you would need to catch say, a turkey, or the tooth fairy。 This is also a good book to use for: begin with the end in mind (make a plan), and writing a how-to story。 Cute。https://mrsjamis。wixsite。com/misslibr。。。 。。。more

Good bookI thought this was a good 👍 book。 But what is sad , the kids don't even catch her。 You should have made where they catch her but then she slips out of the trap。 I would give this a 4。 Good bookI thought this was a good 👍 book。 But what is sad , the kids don't even catch her。 You should have made where they catch her but then she slips out of the trap。 I would give this a 4。 。。。more
